4 Rock Island Auction Company - Regional Sale February 27th& 28th, 2010 View the entire catalog in color onlineat www.rockislandauction.com Our Regional sales are geared towardpotential bidders actually being present to bid. We have notspent time to individually evaluate each item. Our evaluation forcondition will consist of using a grading system whereby wewill assign a rating to an item based on thebelow grading chart similar to the “NRA” grading systemfor firearms. This is an imperfect grading system. We aresure there will be examples that do not exactly matchthe chart. It is our intention to assign a ratingwhich we feel is closest to what we believe isthe rating the firearm substantially falls into. This is simplyour opinion. We do not guarantee this rating. We acknowledgethat this is very subjective and will result in ratingassignments that may be judged “incorrect”. The terms ofthis Regional sale are simple. Everything is sold “asis”. No warranty, guaranty, pledge or endorsement of condition existsbetween Rock Island Auction Company and any successful bidder. Thecatalog is simply a list describing items to be sold.Absolutely no returns will be allowed for any reason. Ultimatelywe expect each buyer to form their own opinion asto what each item is and to determine its condition. We encourage you, a friend or agent to actually viewitems that are to be sold (or that youare bidding on). In summary the terms and conditions ofsale as posted in this catalog are the contract underwhich bids both live and absentee are accepted. Each bidderacknowledges this and agrees that all items are sold asis without warranty or guarantee, endorsement or pledge. Antique orolder guns require a different standard for condition rating, An80% finish gun would have a different rating depending onage. A gun manufactured in 1900 that retains 80% orbetter original finish would be rated excellent applying NRA standards.Yet a recently manufactured gun displaying 80% finish would onlybe rated very good. To address this issue our ratingsystem will be split into two distinct categories older gunsor newer guns classification. This older and newer must notbe mistaken for antique versus modern for ATF rules. Antiqueguns (those manufactured before December 31st, 1898) are notsubject to ATF restrictions. Our classification of older and neweris simply a condition rating and should not be reliedupon for ATF classification of antique or modern. Generally welook at 1920 – 1930 as the breakpoint between older/newer. This is clearly over the 1898 threshold for modernversus antique for ATF rules consideration, thus a firearm withan “O” rating may be considered “modern” byATF classification. It is up to the individual to knowwhat they are bidding on. In any case ATF ruleswill be strictly adhered to.
